Washington Butler is a native of Puyallup who was interested in the arts from a young age. She sang in choirs entered singing competitions and performed in the community theatre and in high school. After moving to Los Angeles, she studied theatre in The University of Southern California and was Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for a year and one quarter. She quit college to find an agent to represent her talents, and started auditioning for film and TV. Butler was a guest on the TV shows CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. The actress landed part-time roles in the film A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser, and in the Syfy TV horror film Flu Bird Horror (2008). This year, Butler had a recurring role on Don Stark's web show Luke 1117. Butler has also appeared in a frequent character on I Love Vampires, a web-based series. Butler won the leading role in the 2010 thriller about rape and revenge I Spit on Your Grave. The remake was a remake in 1978 of the cult classic of the same name. Though initially turned off by the nudity of the film and the violence, its strong female edge and character storyline convinced her to perform the part. Butler starred in Jennifer Hills as a writer who was brutally gang-raped at a cabin while traveling. Steven R. Monroe, director of the film, made it available on the 8th of October 2010. Butler began shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller, on Mallorca in November 2011. The film will also be filming at Copenhagen Denmark as well as New York City. In June 2012, she teamed up with Michael Biehn in the Los Angeles production of Treachery. Butler made an appearance on screen in The Demented, a 2013 horror film starring Michael Welch, Kayla Ewell and Michael Welch.
